Operators, Not Theorists

Who we are

Thornebridge Strategies is the economic development practice of the Thornebridge organization: veteran-owned, run by people who have started, financed, fixed, and measured real businesses. We build the systems that let small ED teams deliver outsized results, and we say plainly what will work and what will not.

Andrew Carrabus, co-founder

Co-Founder / U.S. Marine Corps Veteran

Andrew Carrabus

Andrew is a financial and management professional with a strong track record of turning around struggling businesses. After graduating from Villanova University, he served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps before a career spanning operations, finance, and turnaround leadership across travel, retail, distribution, food manufacturing, construction, real estate, and software.

For economic development partners, that history matters in a specific way: Andrew has sat on the operator's side of the table at businesses in exactly the condition BRE programs exist to catch. His planning discipline, learned as an officer of Marines, drives the underwriting logic inside our readiness diagnostics.

Joaquin Amador, co-founder

Co-Founder / U.S. Army Veteran

Joaquin Amador

Joaquin is a United States Army veteran raised in Puerto Rico and Northern New Mexico. He holds a BA in Psychology, an MBA with dual concentrations in Marketing and Management of Technology from the University of New Mexico, and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Chicago.

His career runs through Accenture, where he managed online marketing for a division, and community development lending, where he worked inside the CDFI programs that fund small businesses. The common thread is solving business and organizational problems with the same pairing every time: Kaizen discipline and the right technology. As a consultant to GM Mexico, he led a quantitative quality initiative that produced the billion-dollar plant's first defect-free surprise audit.

Today he builds the AI-powered tools behind our platform: readiness assessments, advisory assistants, and generative engine optimization for economic development and small business clients. He completed Qubit by Qubit's two-semester Introduction to Quantum Computing with IBM Quantum, speaks three languages, and off the clock fly-fishes Northern New Mexico's waters.

How We Operate

Three commitments

Straight talk

You get honest assessments, even when the honest answer is not what you hoped to hear. We would rather lose an engagement than mislead a department.

Data over opinion

Decisions get made on numbers: readiness scores, retention rates, program completion, reported impact. When the data says change course, we change course.

Mission first

We are veteran-owned and mission-driven. Success is measured in businesses retained, jobs kept, and communities strengthened.

The Education Arm

Thornebridge Academy

Strategies equips departments; our sister organization, Thornebridge Academy, teaches entrepreneurs directly: self-paced business courses, certification, and practical tools. Same founders, same standard, different audience.
